莫须有

2月份忙忙碌碌干了一个月，还是一如既往的加班，而且绝对高强度

因为还处于竞争阶段，马虎不得，大家还是宁可多付出些

我是已经懒得再说什么[反正也没用]、也有些麻木，反正心里暗下决心：如果在这样就不来了

倒数第二周，终于确定了回家的日子

Matt月底就走，我是3月15号，Rainman还是待定[一直到3月初，才确定Rainman 3月底回国]

最后就是数着日子过，用着那连美服都几百上千的破烂网络

Matt走后，被安排到其他building，结果连周末都上不好网

倒是Hilton在最后一周终于升级了网络，可我只享受了四个晚上，真是泪流满面

3月第一周是决定生死的一周，但是周一、周二都没把消息确定下来

终于在4号下午突然听到了欢呼声

虽然不情愿的加了很多班，不过也算物有所值了

Denver到SFO的飞机上看了今年小金人的大赢家《Slumdog Millionaire》

这次乘坐的从SFO到北京的飞机是777，终于不再是落后的747了
每个座位背后都有一个小屏幕，有九个频道[7个同时放电影，外加Disney和NBC]，还有Map可以随时查阅飞机方位
把《Slumdog Millionaire》又看了一遍，还有《马达加斯加2》和一个关于黑人橄榄球运动员的电影
主人公只是为了让她看到自己，却碰上都是自己会的题目
到底是lucky还是destiny，我是一个比较不相信命运、但总觉得自己运气不佳的人
或许也从侧面说明其实社会大学并不一定比真正的大学差，关键在于你是否能学
其中有一处，主人公凭自己的判断，最终选择了正确答案
如果换了我，很难说能够不相信别人，特别是看上去像是很真诚的样子
其实仔细想想，如果真的想骗你，自然也是如此真诚了，或许还是阅历吧
而黑人橄榄球运动员的故事，则是现代版的伯乐与千里马的故事
我也不知道自己是缺少真正的伯乐呢，还是自己就不是那个千里马，
或许应该努力下证明些什么吧
另外，就是黑人总统的上台确实改变了很多，且不说这个电影放在1频道播放
CNN有一个专题节目就是介绍过去这些年的黑人生活，HBO也开了一个黑人脱口秀
San Francisco机场改建，转国际航班有了一条直通小道

尽管从Denver起飞的飞机因为引擎故障晚起飞半个小时，虽然我转机时间只有一个小时，还是赶上了飞往北京的飞机

第一次到北京首都国际机场，感觉也不过如此吧

老爸提前一天到北京大伯家，跟大伯一起到机场接我，省去了坐大巴倒车的麻烦

上周拉拉扯扯还是把一年的宽带办了，1M的

不过因为小区比较老，只有ASDL，没有直接宽带接入

电脑缺三少四，买了几根线又花了几十，主板也坏了，修了下、换了个芯片，又是五十

前两天又在网上买了个耳麦

周一终于把左边下面的智齿也拔了

在家里还是要好点，吃饭可以随便点

定了周六飞杭州的飞机，上海航空公司，所有费用600，还不知道能托运几个行李.....

25th: Chinese New Year's Eve, 26th: Chinese New Year's Day


The first time I was not at home at the Chinese New Year and it was in US.

However, I even needed to work overtime AGAIN on Saturday, the third continuous week.

Sunday, Rainman, Matt and I invited Claude, Jeff and William, Scott, Ed to have dinner together.

Ed and Scott had personal stuff to do while Jeff had to be on hold for emergency call, but we got Pill joined us, so at last we got 7 people in total.

22nd, bought two more domain names [wikinology.info & wikinology.net] from GoDaddy, a little more than $100 for 5 years.

Tried to configure them to point to my prior domain name wikinology.cn.

Barack Obama started to take his responsibility as United States president this Tuesday.


The news here is always talking about this stuff.

I could feel it much closer than anytime before.

Got my annual performance review and this is the first time I really want to deny the review result.

If what I did were just fit my role, I have no idea what I should do in the following year.

Treat myself as a tech leader?!

Anyway, outer factors depend on inner factors.

I do have some perspectives need to be improved, however, most important for now is not technique side but how to perform or how to get better feedbacks.

Wrote some notes on FaceBook as warnings for myself.

You never know what the flavor of next chocolate is!

I got more understanding on this sentence these days.

Someone can tell you something exactly opposite just over one night.

I can not say that's someone's willing but just can not help thing whether I was set.

I don't wanna put too many comments on this but learn to be more defensive.


When you grow up, you have to discover some principles by yourself.

Others would not have no possibility to tell you when they are setting you up.

Christmas in US

The first time have Christmas in US.


In fact, it's not that special.

People would always get together with their families, so we are just alone here.


Thanks to William for taking us to see movies on the Christmas Day.

We went to the Regal Entertainment Group abound Hampden Ave.

It could be about 10 years I have not gone to the theaters.

We saw The Spirit first, but I did not like its "表现手法".

And then went to The Tale of Despereaux, which was nice.

    When you have hope, you are no prisoner of anybody.
    Every single forgiveness can change everything.

After it finished, we just had a short discussion and picked the Seven Pounds by Will Smith.

But we got into incorrect showing room and it was Gran Torino.

It was still ok, but we could not finish it since we had to hand back home around 6 o'clock.


That's it.

That was the first Christmas in US for me.

Chinese idiom: Fortune comes with disaster; Disaster comes with fortune.


But I do not agree with it all the time. [双喜临门    祸不单行]


It was from last Wednesday.

We got release 1 delivered successfully on Tuesday and had a team building Wednesday night.

下面改用中文，因为有些东西不希望被某些人看到  尽管他们不一定有时间看

E开始和每个人"面谈"接下来两周放假的细节，但是因为晚上聚会忙着应酬KB，由KL代为面谈

几乎每个人都得到了想要的假期，我是例外

早上上个月大多数人就提出了这个月的请假计划，不过都被暂时搁置没人理会

真搞不明白，那为什么还要我们提早说出来

我本来的计划是从这周开始请两周的假，因为到年底一共还有十天假

两周内有两天是法定假期，有一天实际要用明年的假期，所以实际还有三天是放弃了

但是最后KL告诉我只有三天被批准了，包括临时请的上周五一天和这周圣诞节前后两天

至于下周的假期，要和NCP商量之后才能决定

为了准时交付，加了两个周末的班，两周的工作小时差不多一百二十小时

结果老早提出的休假请求就这么告诉我不通过........


周四E请病假，本来想着只能这周再说了

结果周五早上E打电话来，竟然问我怎么当天没有去办公室

真不知道是自己忘记了还是KL的问题

然后说KB过些时候要和我谈话


KB电话打过来，开头就说公司有政策怎么样怎么样

电话上听不太清楚，我便重复了一遍  是不是我在这边的时候只要在项目上就不能请假

答案很清楚：是

然后E接着说，项目资金不足，不能继续把我留在项目上，如果我下周要请假的话就不得不把我送回中国

因为没有必要把一个不工作的人留在这边，还要付房租

即使我下周上班，很可能下个月也要出项目

而现在没有其他项目需要人，所以下个月也就是送我回中国的时候


其实我本来申请的就是一月份回国，但是当时一定要求我至少在这边待半年以上

当我准备好待半年了，突然又告诉我马上要打包回家

真TMD无语
人家都说 假期要不用掉要不丢掉，对我来说却是要不丢掉要不在毫无准备的情况下马上回去



期间写了两份邮件

一封在周三晚上，写给所有管理人员，表达我自己的想法和感受
一封在周五早上，和KB、E谈过之后，告诉一些人关于公司制度和我们在这边的处境

两份邮件都没有人回，不过让我懂得了很多

1. 不要跟管理者说太多实话，即使他/她看上去很友善、很通情达理

2. 他们更希望你在下面说悄悄话，即使你说的是错的，而不希望你把事情说出来让他们纠正

3. 如果你的付出没有人看到，那么下次想办法让他们看到，不要事后告诉他们

周末拿到社保局寄过来的社保号邮件，发现竟然被撕破了

从样子上看明显是有人试图看我的社保号，而且也确实能够看到

最后得知竟然是发信的时候就已经被撕破了，但是竟然没有人质疑..........

Since the Homewood Suites got all the rooms reserved last week, we moved to another hotel: Residence Inn by Marriott.

Just a little different feelings. I think I've already getten used of this.

One thing I just discovered was that these hotels always got Holy Bible available in the room, and Residence Inn even got the Book of Momon...


Kevin was leaving, we got a dinner together in Ed's room with Kevin and Raj.

It was really delicious as that was the first time I ate the Italian noodles cooked like that.

Tuesday night, some guys in the team went to the Elephant Bar at Academy to see Kevin off.

It costed more than $20 and seemed to be the most expensive dinner I got here in US.

But in fact, I was planning to treat Kevin a dinner by myself, it was probably even more expensive than that then.

Kevin left on Wednesday and I got facebook registered that night, as it gets more and more popular and I got a "excuse" to register as well. =p

SSN application

Finally, I got SSN applied.

Last Friday (Dec 5th), while Kevin went to airport, I asked him to drive me to the Social Security Administration on the way.

I waited there for around 30 minutes with about 20 people ahead of me.

I brought any documents I could get that could prove I am allowed to work here.

Actually, just the application and passport are enough.

According to the operator, I just noticed that my first name on the VISA was two words instead of one.

It just took about 5-10 minutes, then the operator said all were set.

I confirmed that I was passed and just waiting for the SSn card getting delivered within two weeks.

I would like to try to start to learn to drive then.


Sincerely thank Kevin for carrying me there and Ed to bring me back.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

This is the first time I was in US at the Thanksgiving Holiday, followed by the Black Friday.


I always heard that people went crazy for shopping that day, which is especially enjoyed by people from other countries, like us.


We had a party Wednesday night with all GDC guys here plus Scott and William.

Jack and James cooked many stuff and they were really delicious.

We drank beers and liquids with playing cards.

One hid couple of cards, everyone guessed how many they were and who got the correct number would drink.

William even got to drink triple times.

Then we played cards "Looking for Friends" almost 11 o'clock.

We got a rest on Thursday and departed hotel to the mall around 9:00 p.m.

It was a pity that James would be back to China Friday morning, so he did not go with us.

We arrived  the Castle Rock very early, just a little more than 9:30.

But the mall would not be open until 11:00 p.m.

Matt and I looked around the mall first and just got the Coach had a queue about 20-30 people.

People were getting more and more after 10 o'clock.

Stores opened one after another around 11 and the highway started to be jammed then.

We started from Columbia as usual but nothing special.

In fact, just Tommy [50%] and Gap [40%-60%] got big discount but others.

I just bought a belt and a T-shirt for myself and a scarf for dad from Tommy.

We turned to the Park Meadows around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

The mall would be open 6 o'clock but the Best Buy there would be open at 5:00.

Some guys had already been waiting there with tents when we arrived.

More than 2 o'clock to 2:30, someone started to distribute the discount coupons and ads.

Then many guys left, it seemed they were back to home or somewhere then.




The best part is coming.

I bought Macbook and iPod Touch from Apple store at the Park Meadows.

They costed me around $1500, which was about 10000 RMB.

But they were really worth of it.

Life changed!

In fact, I'd like to buy Macbook Pro at first.

But it did not get discount this year but just Macbook.




PS: This is the first blog posted with my lovely Macbook.  =)
